Instant Rava idli recipe

Rava idli is one of the famous breakfast dish which doesn't need any grinding or soaking. This is traditionally a karatanaka dish which is now popular all over the south. Rava idli / Semolina idli  is very healthy at the same time it is a comfort food which can be made  qucik. Some ghee poured on the idli and you can enjoy them with any chutney , podi or sambhar. I make them often but didn't get a chance to blog , today when i made them for my daughter i clicked some pics to share here. Like for Instant Dhoklas here too eno salt is very important ingredient to make them soft and fluffy.Lets quickly move on to this instant recipe.

Instant Breakfast Recipe
  Rava/ Sooji - 2 cups 
  Curd  1 cup
  Water - 1 cup
  Eno fruit salt - 1 1/2 tsp
  Oil - 1 tbsp
  Curry leaves - 1 sprig
  Urad dal - 2 tsp
  Channa Dal - 1 tsp
  Mustard seeds - 1 tsp
  Salt to taste
  Oil or Ghee for serving

  • In a pan heat oil add mustard seeds , after they splutter add urad dal, channa dal.
  • Roast them till they turn light brown , add curry leaves and roast them.
  • Add the rava and roast them well in low flame till it leaves out nice aroma.
  • Take the roasted sooji in a bowl add curd, salt and mix them well.
  • Add water little by little and mix them to a batter.
  • Leave them aside for 10 - 15 mins, heat the idli cooker with water and keep it ready for steaming the idli's.
  • Grease the idli plates with ghee or oil and keep it ready.
  • Add eno salt to the rava  batter mix and fold them gently in the batter.
  • Immediately pour the idli batter into the idli molds and steam them in idli cooker for 8-10 mins.
  • Insert a tooth pick and check with it comes out clean then the idli is ready.
  • Serve these spongy idli's with any chutney .
  • If you want you can also include cashews nut to the tempering.
  • Also you can make it more healthy by adding some grated carrots, chopped beans.
  • The batter should not be too thick is should be loose.
  • Once you add eno salt fold them in batter quickly and pour them in mould. Don't skip eno as all the sponginess of the idli comes from the soda.
