Sabudana Khichdi Recipe | How to make sabudana Khichdi ?

I always find it easy to cook some instant upma or khichidi for breakfast than a elaborate one . Sabudana khichidi is one such quick breakfast recipe I make often , this is how my mom makes and I just added peas to the recipe. Sago is one healthy ingredients I love to use, But for this khichidi you have to soak it overnight so you have to think ahead if you want to make them. This is made in north india when people have fasting and they are perfect vrat recipe with sago. Now lets move to the quick breakfast khichdi 🙂

  Ingredients
Navratri Recipe
  Sago / Sabudana – 1 cup
  Roasted peanuts – 2 tbsp
  Green chillies – 2 no
  Green peas – 2 tbsp
  Mustard seeds – 1/4 tsp
  Cumin seeds – 1/4 tsp
  Turmeric pd – 1/4 tsp
  Lemon juice – 1 tbsp
  Oil – 1 tbsp
  Coriander leaves – For garnish
  Salt to taste
  Method
  • Wash and soak the sago over night with enough water.Next day drain the water from the sago and keep it ready.
  • In a pan heat oil add mustard seeds, cumin seeds . After they splutter add roasted peanuts , green chillies and saute them.
  • Add peas and saute them till they cook well.
  • Add turmeric pd and the sago and mix them well. Add salt as needed.
  • Cook the sago by mixing them constanly till they turn transparent. Be careful not to over cook them as they get mashed.
  • Turn off the flame and add lemon juice and mix them well.
  • Serve them warm immediately.
  Note :The soaking time depends on variety of sabudana available in your place some need only 1-2 hr soaking and some need over night. So soak according the variety you get in your place. My sago needed over night soaking so I soaked it over night. When pressed it should be mash-able that  when you can use them to make khichdi.
