March 10, 2014 By

Persian cuisine

I have been waiting for this weeks theme ” One dish different Countries” For BM , very interesting theme isn’t it .so I thought why not I prepare some recipes which is similar in India even and chose Halwa in the final. Yes can’t get what your thinking am feeling sugar Hi already, sure there are going to be some Interesting Halwas which I encountered Long ago which are similar to our very own Indian ones . Halwa are very traditional sweet dish prepared in India for festivals and to offer god , This halwa is Known is many different ways across our country but have some similarities.

Coming to my first day post I have taken a Halwa from Persia which the Iranian fav Halva . The word Halvah refers to the dense sweets made with nuts pd or flour. And sometime they are also made with thahini is Israel. This halwa is similar our wheat flour halwa with a hint of rose water in it makes all diffrence. This is a super soft and delicious halvah which is most often had after fast in Iran. I know we rajasthani’s make this halwa very often for every festival and call it shiro and I was amazed to know they where popular In Iran even :). With some minute differences in method and ingredients this halva / halvah is the most loved sweet in Persian cuisine. Check out the Blogging Marathon page for the other Blogging Marathoners doing BM#38. Lets move on to the simple recipe to make this halva..

  • Transfer it to a serving pan and garnish them with chopped pistachio and almond sprinkled on top.

Tips

Some people can’t take the oil smell in sweets so be sure to use ghee instead, But the traditional recipe calls for cooking oil.
